Stuck on the Loom

So, I’ve been weaving this virtual tapestry. It’s complicated–threads of different colors and textures. Ribbons and yarns. Beads and shells. I’ve worked my way to the 75% mark of my Young Adult novel where the action presses on to the climax. Time to get the vague notions I had for the denouement to come together in fine detail.
I’ve got so many knots to work through. Every character has a point of view. Their actions come from something they want. They are complicated people. As I take a close look at what I planned to write, I find dropped stitches and holes. Breaks in the pattern.
I have to unravel and rework some threads to get to image on the other side to make sense.
I am like God to my characters. I love them all, even the bad guy. I see the big picture. I put them in difficult situations and witness all their pain as they move through their suffering. My protagonist will grow through what he experiences. He matures.
I’ve been working out the climax of this story for months. Why exactly does the bad guy do this ugly thing? How does the teen boy resist and fight back against overwhelming forces? What leads to the satisfying ending where justice is served and the boy acts in his new wisdom?
I could not have written this as a young woman. Living through my own tapestry has given me perception. I needed wide experience to write the complex experience others.

I’m quite sure that the tapestry of my life will come to a satisfying conclusion. I can say this even if my life ends, as Garrison Keillor fears, in a dumb death. Or by a random act of evil. Or a disease that robs me of my dignity. The story of our tapestries don’t make sense until they are viewed in the revealing light of eternity.
Back here on this side, I’ve stopped listening to audio books or music so I have head space to ponder the design that will tie up all the loose threads. Once I’ve got it, I’ll write the chapters that will bring this story to its juicy ending.
Thank you, readers and long term supporters for following my progress. Recently Mailer Lite sent out two blank emails. It is supposed to check for new posts and mail out a notice on Friday mornings. Well, it turns out if I let a subscription lapse (my domain? my host server?) the rules don’t apply. I have paid my bills and we should be all set.
